When not worn the women fold their red skirts with thin black lines are gathered accordion style to create pleats.  The "bag-bal" on her head symbolizes a coiled coral snake.

The coral snake is this village's guardian spirit. Its influence is seen in all parts of life.  The valley near these villages were settle by may Germans after World War I trying to find a new start.  Their influence on the culture is easily noticed.
