Santa María Chiquimula - Female
 Daily

The skirt is a heavy stiff weave making the tall women of this village look even more statuesque. Unlike the colorful headdresses of other villages, here they were a dark wool headdress.

Language: Quiché           Department: Totonicapán

The women of Santa María Chiquimula are statuesque and graceful. They seem to float over the pastures where they tend sheep from an early age.  The women save all their hair, from childhood, in a bun behind their head. They believe it protects them from witchcraft.
