San Antonio Palopó - Daily
 Male

The men here specialize in making rush mats. As they spend most of their time wading in the waters, pants are cumbersome.  Here the men wear a black and white checkered kilt that is easily removed to get in the water. They do have a red and white stripe pants they can slide in under their kilts. The shirt sleeves have more red in them than the front or back panels. Other colors are interwoven in the fabric. He wears a straw hat weighted down by a Tzut.

The deep blue waters of Lake Atitlán rests in a basin surrounded by volcanoes. Said to be the most beautiful lake in the world is not the easiest to live on. There is very little level ground for farming. On the steep edges around the lake small villages try to etch out a living.  Each village has developed a particular skill or industry they can trade for food with other villages.
