Cotzal - Ceremonial 
 Female

The women's headdress is worn at and angle on purpose. She has pierced her ears many times. Colorful thread is pulled through each hole and a coin or silver piece is tied at the end.  Her long white blouse is embroidered with two double headed birds. A coral necklace hangs from her neck. 

Language: Ixil                   Department: El Quiché

Cotzal, one of only three villages that speak Ixil.  The three villages are known as the Ixil triangle. Cotzal means, "warm climate," in Ixil.
