In Chichicastenango the Mayan mix their religion with the catholic church.
On the steps of the church they burn "copal" to their gods, before burning candles to the saints inside. As they say, "Burn one for the God in the house, and another for the ones outside." Chichicastenango means, "The place of the Thistles."
