San Sebastián Retalhuleu - Daily
 Female

Women here used to go topless, except when they went to market in the larger towns of Mazatenango and Retalhuleu.  They would have to slip a white blouse on as they neared civilization. Their skirt is a patchwork of yellows, orange and greens woven on the same loom. They don't wear belts, they just tuck the skirt into the wrappings.

Language: Quiché           Department: Retalhuleu

San Sebastián Retalhuleu on the Pacific lowlands grows cacao beans for making chocolate.  At one time these beans were used as money in the Mayan world.
